Why a gooseneck spout matters
A gooseneck spout lets you aim water exactly where you want it, at the speed you want. For delicate Japanese green teas (160-175°F), that gentle pour keeps leaves from getting scorched and bitter. For pour-over coffee, it is just as essential. The thin, curved neck gives you control a wide spout simply cannot.
Quick reference: Green tea 160-175°F. White tea 160-185°F. Oolong 185-205°F. Black tea 200-212°F. Herbal tisanes 208-212°F. Full details in my temperature guide by tea type.
Which size and style fits you?
A 0.9L suits one to two people and heats faster. A 1L handles a small gathering or fills a bigger teapot in one go.
| Model | Capacity | Key Feature | Best For |
|---|---|---|---|
| Matte Black 1L | 1 Liter | Sleek matte finish | Minimalist kitchens, daily use |
| 1L with LED Display | 1 Liter | Real-time LED temp readout | Precision brewers, green & white tea |
| 0.9L Wood Handle | 0.9 Liter | Natural wood handle, warm look | Cozy aesthetics, solo tea ritual |
| 0.9L Temp Control | 0.9 Liter | Variable temperature control | Serious tea lovers, multiple tea types |
Not sure where to start? The 0.9L Temp Control does everything, stays compact, and the price will not make you wince.
Electric vs. stovetop
All four kettles here are electric and US-ready: faster, more precise than stovetop, and they free up a burner. The keep-warm function alone is something a stovetop cannot offer. If you are torn, read my electric vs. stovetop kettle comparison.
Care tips
Descale with white vinegar or citric acid every 2-4 weeks to keep the element efficient and your water clean. Empty and dry the kettle after each use. Full walkthrough in my descaling guide.
Frequently asked questions
What is a gooseneck kettle actually for?
The curved spout gives you a slow, narrow stream, essential for pour-over coffee and delicate teas where boiling water directly on leaves makes them bitter. More in my guide on what a gooseneck kettle is for.
Do I need temperature control?
If you brew more than one tea type, yes. Green wants 160-175°F, black 200-212°F, oolong 185-205°F. The LED Display and 0.9L Temp Control models let you dial in exact degrees.
Is 0.9L or 1L better?
0.9L is plenty for one or two cups and heats faster. 1L suits a larger teapot or guests. Both are compact.
Can I use it for regular (non pour-over) tea?
Absolutely. It boils water like any electric kettle; you just get the bonus of a precise pour when you want it.
Are these kettles safe with US outlets?
Yes. All four are designed for standard 120V American outlets. No adapter needed.
Does the wood handle get hot?
No. Wood does not conduct heat like metal, so you pour comfortably even at full temperature.
